Darts legend Wayne Mardle has shared his incredible journey after shedding an astounding 50 kilos. At his heaviest, Mardle weighed almost 20 stone, a figure he openly discusses now as part of his transformation story.
Finding it difficult to manage his weight during his playing career, Mardle indulged in a diet of fast food and alcohol while constantly on the road. However, since stepping away from competitive darts, he has managed to change his eating habits and limit unhealthy snacking, which he credits as key to his significant weight loss.
During a recent episode of the 50kg & Zero% Drop Podcast, Mardle reflected on his journey, remarking, “Do you know it’s the snacking. I know it’s the snacking. And I have, like I said, this has been ongoing for like…yeah since I’ve been 20 was when it was like, look at the size of me.” He continued explaining the struggle he faced, admitting he has battled with his weight for over a decade, fluctuating between losing and gaining weight.
Mardle’s transformation is striking; he has successfully maintained a weight loss of five stone over the last 13 years. He has moved from a weight of 19 stone 9, nearly 20 stone, to 12 stone 12, a weight loss of 50 kilos. “I couldn’t sustain it because I felt like my body was saying this might… it felt that it was too light for me. It soon went up to like 12.5, 13, 14. Now I try to keep it at 15. I’m in a constant battle to keep under 15 stone. It’s a day-to-day struggle,” he added, emphasizing the ongoing nature of maintaining his health and weight.
Wayne Mardle’s story exemplifies determination and the importance of lifestyle changes, serving as inspiration for others who are grappling with their own health journeys.
