Dr Michael Mosley has been posthumously awarded during the Radio Times Screen Test Awards this week. His wife, Dr Clare Bailey Mosley, accepted the new award, The Viewers’ and Listeners’ Friend Award, on his behalf. This honor was given in recognition of Dr Mosley’s dedication to improving the nation’s well-being through his broadcasting efforts.
In an exclusive interview, Dr Clare expressed her pride in her husband’s legacy, acknowledging how he transformed countless lives by advocating healthier living through his insights, notably his personal journey of reversing his diabetes. She stated, “Michael was very brave, and he went out of his comfort zone very often. He, as you probably know, reversed his own diabetes, and very many thousands of people did the same.”
Dr Clare continued to highlight the impact of his work, saying, “He took things to a different level and I think people really trusted him. He followed the science, so people followed his advice.”
Dr Michael Mosley, who passed away after vanishing on the Greek island of Symi, was known for authoring the well-regarded Fast 800 diet, where he lost over a stone in just 12 weeks through dietary changes.
In a recent broadcast, health expert Dr Xand van Tulleken further emphasized the dietary adjustments made by Dr Mosley, which were instrumental in his health transformation. According to him, Mosley’s method involved reducing carbohydrate intake and focusing on weight loss, directly addressing the fat surrounding organs that contribute to type 2 diabetes risk.
Despite his untimely passing, Dr Michael Mosley’s contributions continue to resonate with many, and his legacy will live on as efforts are being made to keep his work alive. Indeed, Dr Clare concluded with hopes of promoting and continuing the positive change Michael worked towards.
