Country singer Jelly Roll has been candid about his weight loss journey, capturing the attention of fans and followers alike. In a recent episode of his wife BunnieXO’s podcast, titled Dumb Blonde, he shared his personal struggles with food addiction and the transformations he’s experienced over the past year.
Jelly Roll, known for his hit song “Son of a Sinner,” decided to be open about his journey, stating, “I wanted to lose it in front of everybody. I want to bring people along with me.” He aims to achieve one of the biggest transformations while being honest about his challenges with weight loss. Reflecting on his past, he expressed that he believes many individuals who have faced severe weight issues often feel ashamed and tend to hide while losing the weight, only to re-emerge feeling disconnected from their previous selves.
Highlighting his commitment to traditional weight loss methods, Jelly Roll clarified that although GLP-1 medications like Ozempic have their benefits, he prefers to lose weight through exercise and proper nutrition. He stated, “We’re not against Ozempic or any of that stuff. Every doctor I’ve talked to is for it. They said it helps. I just was afraid of it.” One of his primary concerns is acid reflux, a side effect he has learned could be detrimental to his singing career. He emphasized, “As a singer, few things scare me more than acid reflux. Like, you’ll watch me get up out of a bed, I’ll burp and wake up panicked and go take something for it.”
Earlier this year, Jelly Roll took a significant step by training for and completing a 5K run, a goal that he shared with his fans. So far, he has successfully lost over 100 pounds and has set his sights on losing an additional 100 pounds in 2025. Looking back on his former life, he expressed regret for taking so long to begin this journey, describing his previous self as a “550-pound zombie.”
Despite recognizing that he is still “morbidly obese,” Jelly Roll remains motivated, stating, “I’m gonna keep getting it off like I have been.” His journey is not just about weight loss; it is a powerful message about transformation, resilience, and the importance of sharing one’s truth with the world.
